Eco Foaming Hand Soap

I wash my hands constantly at work and my skin used to crack by the end of the week. Switched to this foam at home and my hands actually recovered. No tightness, no chemical smell.

Eco Foaming Hand Soap

The foam format is the right call. One pump covers both hands, the kids stop over-pumping it, and the 3.6L refill lasts forever. Ingredient list is short enough that I read all of it.

Eco Foaming Hand Soap

Bought it unscented because everyone in the house reacts to perfume. Added a few drops of the lavender essential oil from their fragrance line and it's perfect. Foams instantly, rinses clean, no film.

Eco Foaming Hand Soap

Gentle and it lathers well, no complaints on the formula. My only note is the foam pump can sputter near the end of the bottle before a refill — minor. Hands feel better than with my old drugstore soap.

What repeated hand-washing actually does to your skin

The problem with most hand soap is not that it cleans. It is that it strips.

Most drugstore hand soap is built on petroleum surfactants and a synthetic-fragrance blend that hides phthalates under the single word "fragrance." Wash ten or twenty times a day with that and the skin barrier loses its natural oils — the tightness, the cracking, the reactivity.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate — the petroleum surfactant most conventional soaps are built on — is the dermatology gold-standard irritant control in skin patch testing, used across 43,000+ patients over 20+ years (European Society of Contact Dermatitis)

Nearly 100% of people tested have detectable phthalates in their bodies — a common source is the fragrance blend in personal-care and cleaning products, which is not required to be disclosed (CDC NHANES)

Phthalates are endocrine disruptors linked to fertility changes, asthma, and developmental effects in children — and hide in ingredient lists under the single word "fragrance" (Endocrine Society)

We Spent 30+ Years Cleaning Up Contamination. Then We Checked Under the Sink.

Diana Trasente and Angelo Diadelfo are environmental engineers with Master's degrees and over 30 years remediating contaminated soil and water across Canada. They know industrial chemicals intimately — PCBs, heavy metals, synthetic surfactants, petroleum solvents.

Then they started reading the labels on their own household cleaners. The same classes of synthetic chemicals they spent their careers cleaning up were sitting in their kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room.

In 2010, they founded Sampson Eco Shop — applying the same scientific rigor to household cleaners that they applied to environmental remediation. Every product starts with one question: What's actually in here, and is it safe to put down a drain?

“Every cleaner we make starts with the same question we'd ask on a contamination site: what's actually in here, and what happens when it goes down the drain?” “Chaque nettoyant qu'on fabrique commence par la même question qu'on poserait sur un site contaminé: qu'est-ce qu'il y a vraiment dedans, et qu'est-ce qui se passe quand ça va dans le drain?”

The Method

Powered by Coconuts. Engineered by Engineers.

Coconut-derived and plant-based actives, paired and balanced by Diana and Angelo Diadelfo, M.Eng. — environmental engineers since 2010.

1

Aerate into foam at the pump

The foam pump mixes air into the soap as it leaves the bottle, so it arrives pre-lathered. You skip the work-up step, use less water, and spread less product across the same two hands.

2

Lift dirt and grease off the skin

The foaming surfactant and plant-derived glucosides break the surface tension of the oily film that holds dirt, food, and grease to your skin, so water can carry it away.

3

Buffer the wash so skin keeps its oils

Cocamidopropyl betaine softens the detergency so the cleaning action lifts dirt without stripping the natural oils out of your skin barrier — the difference between clean hands and tight, cracked hands.

4

Condition during the wash, then break down

Aloe, vitamin A, and vitamin E condition the skin while you wash. The surfactants rinse off and break down in waste-water treatment instead of building up in the watershed.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on skin, format, and what is in the formula.

Same gentle Sampson hand-soap philosophy, different dispense format. The foam pump aerates the soap so it arrives pre-lathered — you use less water and less product per wash. If you wash your hands many times a day, the foam format is the more economical choice.
It is formulated to avoid that. The surfactant action is buffered by cocamidopropyl betaine and the formula includes aloe vera, vitamin A, and vitamin E to condition the skin during the wash. Conventional soaps built on petroleum surfactants like SLS are the ones associated with tightness and cracking from repeated washing.
This is a soap, not a registered disinfectant or sanitizer. It cleans the way all soap does — by lifting dirt, grease, and microbes off the skin so water rinses them away. Proper hand-washing with any soap for about 20 seconds is what does the work. We don't make disinfectant claims.
Yes. The foam pump can be refilled from the 3.6L concentrate format, which reduces packaging waste compared with buying small bottles repeatedly. Use the foaming-specific formula — foam pumps are designed to aerate a thinner liquid.
Yes — Sampson sells 20+ natural essential-oil fragrances separately. It ships unscented so households with sensitivities can use it as-is, with no synthetic fragrance carriers, no phthalates, and no parabens. Add a few drops of your chosen scent if you want one.
It is formulated without phosphates, synthetic fragrance carriers, phthalates, and parabens, and conditioned with aloe and vitamins. The full ingredient list is short and printed on the label — read it and decide what fits your household. We don't make blanket safety claims; we list what is and isn't in the bottle.
Yes. The formula is biodegradable to OECD 301D, phosphate-free, and septic-safe in standard household use. The surfactants break down in waste-water treatment rather than building up in the watershed.
Yes. Formulated and bottled in Montreal by Diana and Angelo Diadelfo, M.Eng. Environmental engineers, and used by 20,000+ Canadian households since 2010.
